West Springfield & Holyoke Mayors React to the COVID-19 Outbreak

With schools closed and many people working from home, there’s a temptation to be out and about to avoid going stir crazy. But West Springfield Mayor Will Reichelt and Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse are urging the public to take the threat of COVID-19 seriously. Both mayors are reminding residents to stay home whenever possible.

In Holyoke, Mayor Morse made the decision to close to the public all retail businesses with an occupancy of 50 or more indefinitely. The decision, which does not include grocery stores, pharmacies, or pet food suppliers, went into effect at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17. Because of this decision, all stores at the Holyoke Mall except for Target and Pizzeria Uno will remain closed.

Mayor Morse and Mayor Reichelt joined Carrie Saldo in studio to discuss why these actions are necessary as the country tries to stop the coronavirus pandemic.
