Social-Emotional Learning in Schools

Growing up, Ashley Olafsen didn’t always feel comfortable with the concept of talking. Olafsen’s own struggle with mental health and body image eventually inspired her to take action to help others. Olafsen developed a social-emotional learning curriculum for middle and high schoolers focusing on areas including body image, self-esteem, mental health, LGBTQ topics, and more. While at UMass Amherst, Olafsen met her business partner Tom Leary. Together, Olafsen and Leery created a series of ten online video workshops for classrooms. Leary joined Carrie Saldo in the studio to share more about the “Let’s Talk About It” workshops.
