The Mohawk Regional School District has slowly worked to change their logo, which currently uses Native American imagery. The logo was phased out of sports uniforms earlier this year. Now, the regional school committee will vote in May on removing a Native American mural in the gym. The mural was a gift from the Class of 1978. Carolee McGrath sat down with Michael Buoniconti, Superintendent of the Mohawk Regional District, and high school students Mae Rice-Lesure and Grace Gokey to find out why they’re in favor of removing the imagery.
