This weekend, in an effort to stop the spread of coronavirus, the Baker administration announced several new rules. On-site consumption at bars and restaurants was banned, but these establishments can stay open for take-out purchases. Baker also instituted a ban on gatherings of 25 or more people.
In the wake of these new rules, stores like Yankee Candle and entertainment complexes like Bounce Trampoline Sports and MGM Springfield are temporarily closing. These actions will have significant impact on the economy in western Massachusetts.
