Amherst Ballet is celebrating it’s 40th anniversary with a series of special events. We’ll hear more about the celebration from acting Executive Director, Sueann Townsend, who also reflects on the school’s history and shares her passion for the art of ballet.
Cynthia Lowen, producer of the new film “Bully”, joins us. The documentary follows multiple students who are bullied in school. Due to some of the language in the film it received an R rating, but before it premiered the rating was changed to PG-13. Lowen hopes that this film will inspire bystander intervention, and help to end bullying. The film will be shown at Amherst Cinema from April 20th until April 26th.
UMass/Amherst Athletic Director John McCutcheon discusses decision to upgrade UMass football program.
The University of Massachusetts football program will be moving up from the Football Championship Subdivision (the FCS – formerly Division 1-AA) to the Football Bowl Subdivision (the FBS – formerly Div 1A). The Minutemen will begin play in the MAC against various directional state schools in 2012. This will also mean that the team will move its home games to Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA, leaving the Amherst Campus.
