September 11th, 2001 was a day that changed America. Eighteen years ago, terrorists flew planes into the north and south towers of the World Trade Center in New York, into the Pentagon, and a Pennsylvania field. This year, Springfield city leaders will mark that day with a remembrance ceremony at Riverfront Park, in front of the new memorial which includes a beam from the World Trade Center. To learn more about the Springfield 9/11 Memorial Ceremony, Carolee McGrath sat down with Acting Springfield Police Commissioner Cheryl Clapprood, Springfield Fire Commissioner B.J. Calvi, and Spirit of Springfield President Judy Matt.
