On Saturday, October 5th, the Beauregard and Schizvina Memorial Park was dedicated at Mary Lynch School in Springfield, MA. The memorial honors Springfield Police Officers Alian Beauregard and Michael Schizvina, who were shot and killed in the line of duty in 1985. The memorial was funded in part by the annual Ride to Remember. Ride to Remember raises funds each year through a bike ride from Springfield to Boston in honor of fallen police officers. Carolee McGrath sat down with retired Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney, who organizes the Ride to Remember, and Alain Beauregard’s widow, Doris Beauregard-Schecrallah, to learn more about the memorial and what it means to wider community.
