According to Massachusetts’ 2017 infrastructure report card, of the 5,192 bridges in the state, 482—or nearly 10 percentare structurally deficient. Over the next 20 years, the state faces nearly $9 billion in wastewater infrastructure needs, and road repair needs alone cost motorists $627 per year. Why don’t these things just get fixed?
