EPA Wastewater Operator Award Winner Paula Lynn Ely

Here in Massachusetts, there are hundreds of wastewater treatment plants. Their main function is to take in sewage and drain water, separate the sludge from the liquid, introduce microscopic bacteria and bugs to clean the water, and release it back into the environment once it’s met EPA and DEP standards. The Great Barrington Wastewater Treatment Plant meets and exceeds those standards consistently year in and year out, thanks in part to Paula Lynn Ely. The EPA Wastewater Operator Award was awarded to Ely in recognition of her outstanding hard work and dedication in the field. Connecting Point’s Brian Sullivan headed out to Great Barrington to bring us the story.
