Rep: Aaron Vega: Breakfast After the Bell Curbs Student Hunger

There is a new push to expand the Breakfast After the Bell program, which requires schools in high poverty areas to provide students with free breakfast, in Massachusetts public schools.

Several school districts, including Holyoke, have implemented this program to ensure all students start their day on a full stomach and ready to learn. But some lawmakers would like to see all school districts with 60% or more of their students eligible for free and reduced lunch to serve breakfast after the bell. Carolee McGrath sat down with Holyoke State Rep. Aaron Vega to learn more about the program.
