Springfield Delays Opening of Recreational Marijuana Shops

On July 1, 2018, legal recreational marijuana shops will open across Massachusetts. Cities and towns across the state are weighing whether they want recreational pot shops open or not on the first day of legalization. Recreational marijuana shops will need to have proper permitting and actual products to sell if they wish to open on July 1.

Meanwhile, city and town leaders want more tie to develop the rules that will govern adult-use marijuana stores in their community. Springfield is the latest city to press the pause button on pot. Carrie Saldo speaks with City Councilors Adam Gomez and Orlando Ramos about the council’s unanimous decision to delay the opening of recreational pot shops in the city.
