Massachusetts Pregnant Workers Fairness Act

Discrimination based on pregnancy and pregnancy-related conditions is an on-going challenge for working women. On April 1, the Massachusetts Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, which bans discrimination based on pregnancy and pregnancy-related conditions and puts other worker protections in place, went into effect. Dr. Carrie Baker, Smith College’s Program Director for the Study of Women and Gender, joins host Carrie Saldo to discuss how the new law was created, the effect that pregnancy discrimination has on women’s careers, and more.
