Ludlow Public Schools ALICE Training for Active Shooter Situations

Since the shooting at Marjory Stoneham Douglas High School, there has been a lot of talk about gun control and mental health, in addition to how schools can keep student safe in the classroom. Ludlow Public Schools has prepared for the unthinkable—an active shooter situation—with ALICE Training.

ALICE Training, which stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate, breaks from the traditional lockdown methods that many school districts use. Carolee McGrath sat down with Ludlow Superintendent Todd Gazda and Ludlow Police Lt. Michael Brennan to learn more about this new training, and why Ludlow decided it was the best option for student safety.
