Vietnam Vet John Arthur
The Vietnam War started in December of 1956 and lasted until April of 1975 John Arthur of Longmeadow served in Vietnam in the mid 60’s. Producer Tony Dunne talked with Arthur about his time in the service and the impact it had on his life.
World War II Vet Milt Berman
Prior to his passing in February of 2010, Milt Berman served as a Captain in the US Army and piloted the P47 Thunderbolt in World War Two. For his heroic achievement while participating in aerial flights over Europe, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with Three Oak Clusters, The Purple Heart, and numerous other air medals. In 2007, WGBY producer Dave Fraser had the opportunity to interview Berman at the New England Air Museum and shares his story again in honor of Memorial Day.
Purple Hearts Reunited
Captain Zachariah Fike spends a considerable amount of his own time to track down lost or stolen medals and return them to the veteran who earned them or to their families. He founded the non-profit organization, Purple Hearts Reunited, and travels all over the country doing return ceremonies when his research team has been able to locate the families.
